Oregon wine didn’t happen by accident. The Willamette Valley’s cool, maritime climate — shaped by the Coast Range to the west and the Cascades to the east — produces Pinot Noir with a depth that made the world take notice. Staying at the Junction City Chalet puts you at the centre of it.
These are the wineries worth your time.
King Estate Winery
The most iconic name in southern Willamette Valley wine. King Estate’s organic and biodynamic vineyards cover over 1,000 acres, and their estate restaurant is one of the best in the region. Book a table for lunch and stay longer than you planned. It always happens that way.
Territorial Vineyards & Wine Company
Right in Eugene, Territorial is an urban winery with serious credentials — they source from some of the best Willamette Valley growers and pour in a relaxed tasting room that doesn’t take itself too seriously. A great first stop before heading out into the valley.
Iris Vineyards
A smaller, family-owned estate producing elegant Pinot Noir and aromatic whites. The views from their tasting room are worth the drive alone. Go on a weekday for a quieter experience — weekends fill up fast in harvest season.
Pfeiffer Winery
One of the most underrated spots in the valley. Pfeiffer sits in a beautiful setting and operates at a pace that feels more like visiting a friend than a tasting appointment. They pour with genuine enthusiasm and the conversation rarely stays just about wine.
Sweet Cheeks Winery
Named for the shape of the hillside it sits on, Sweet Cheeks produces rich, approachable Willamette Valley wines with a tasting room that’s consistently welcoming. The Pinot Gris is the one guests mention most.
Planning a Wine Day from Junction City
The Junction City Chalet sits beautifully positioned for a loop through the southern Willamette Valley — head south toward Eugene, swing by King Estate or Territorial for lunch, and work your way back through the smaller estates in the late afternoon. At that pace, you’re home at the ranch for sunset.
Going as a group? The chalet sleeps sixteen, which makes it the ideal base for a wine weekend that doesn’t require anyone to drive back to a hotel after the last pour.
